Contains numerous copies of Bishop's unpublished history of the Scovill Manufacturing Company. Also included is material dating from 1919 to 1950 gathered by Bishop during his research. There is also correspondence dating 1980 to 1984 concerning Bishop's Scovill history and the collection of brassworking machine tools at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History.

Philip W. Bishop was a historian, economist, and museum curator who worked at Yale University and the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of History and Technology.
